i felt dumb after this one...
Semi-Regular tight limps, I limp, another player limps, blinds come along. 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
$5000 effective stacks. Flop Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] He bets $175, I make it $650. He calls Turn 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He checks. I bet $1350 into $1500. He calls River A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He goes all-in. ---Now, he obviously does not have the odds to call on the turn with draw unless he has KT [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and I do not think he would have played it this way. It seems like this is often a desperation bet. Someone betting with KQ, or another hand that they know is beat, but didnt fold on the turn, and are now trying to bluff with because like I said, if he is a good player 16/7, than he will not check-call KTo, 65 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on this turn. Anyways, I called. He has KTo. I make a note not to respect his play too much in the future. Thoughts on hand and situation? |

Re: i felt dumb after this one...
i dont play anywhere close as high, but i just felt like replying to this thread
The only hand that u beat here is a bluff because every draw got there. leading flop and calling a raise then c/c on the turn and finally open pushing on river looks very much like a draw. I highly doubt if KQ would ever do this as a desperation bluff. KQ would more likely c/f after the ultimate scare card on river. Also, he cant be floating either cuz he lead the flop...if he c/c both flop and turn and open pushed on river there would be a very higher chance that he's bluffing. AQ would prolly just c/c here too. it's nice that u finally got ure old avator back |

Re: i felt dumb after this one...
PokerSoccer,
I don't think I agree with much of your analysis here. KQ could definetly do this for the reasons KKF stated. Also, I wouldn't even rule out AQ or some other random 2 pair because of the likelyhood of the semibluff raise on the flop by KKF here. By the river, villian may think KKF will push if checked to but if bet into then he may fold a better hand (set, straight even). His bet is made to look like the flush got there and trying to extract value from worse hands. Stack sizes make the river all in the only bet to make anyways. The fact that he didn't have the flush, only makes this bet that much more valuable as it may have mad a better hand fold. All in all KKF, your opponent played his hand as badly as he could. But his river bet was good only if by accident. |

Re: i felt dumb after this one...
i just call here unless i god a really good read on the guy. he didnt get the odds to draw on the turn by a profitable enough amount that i am not willing to risk by folding. so i call.

Re: i felt dumb after this one...
If he figuring to make some money on the river he has odds to call the turn with any flush draw+gutshot, right?
