Under pair with Overcard kicker..how to play this???
This comes up often. Recently i have been "tagging along" if the bets aren't too big to try to hit trips or a second pair. I'm never sure if its +EV, -EV or what ??? Comments please.

Re: Under pair with Overcard kicker..how to play this???
ATo on a TK4 board with a flush draw is not a hand you want to chase OOP.
Your ace (as was the case here) will not give you a win but instead cost you some money. In other cases, it could make someone a straight. Chasing for trips will sometimes kill your action even when you do hit it and you will lose your stack when you're up against better trips or a full house. I wouldn't mind seeing the turn here in position as you have the ace of diamonds but again, even if a diamond falls I'm not getting too excited. |
