Default Book Review: One Flew Over the Cuckoo\'s Nest

I just finished this tonight. Quite an amazing book, it made me realize how many of the books I read are by storytellers rather than writers. Ken Kesey is a [censored] writer. Even if you have seen the movie, I think this book is a must-read.

I'll second that. It's been so many years since I read it, but it's a pretty good one.

I agree, it's a great book.

Sorta off topic but do you like Raymond Chandler? I would recommend him if good storytelling & good writing are both important to you.

Raymond Chandler sucks so bad. Cant believe you just mentioned him with Kesey.

Have you read Enderby? I love those stories, as well as The Wanting Seed and Clockwork Orange.

I also just read Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy - perhaps the best book I have ever read.

I never said he was as good a writer as Kesey. I'm not a huge Chandler fan actually but I'd rather read him than, oh I dunno...Burgess.

I enjoyed that book when I read it but in retrospect it was kinda preposterous. How many portentious & symbolically charged landscape descriptions does a medium-length novel really need.
