I think a lot of this depends on what game you are looking to learn and what your goals are. I'm far from the person to ask, but there are a lot of options for getting into poker. A lot of people got into No Limit Hold 'em tournaments because of watching tournaments on TV. Others started with limit hold em cash games, which are very popular. This particular board is for 7 Card Stud, which used to be the poker game of choice before Hold 'em took over the world.

Hold 'em might be your best bet for getting into poker, simply because there are a lot more resources out there for beginners. If you want to learn 7 Card Stud, I'm certain there are knowledgable people on this board who can point you in the right direction (but it's going to be harder to find good beginner books).

At any rate, if you tell us what your goals are and a little more specifics about what you want to learn about, people on this board might better be able to point you in the right direction.

Have you read the FAQ at the top of the page? If not, you should.
