Mixed games - how do they work?
When a casino has a mixed game running, what are the most common used frequencies for how often the game changes?
Does how often the game change become altered as more or less people are in the game? For example, if 8 people are sitting at the table and its supposed to change every 8 hands, does the rate change if someone leaves the table? If it doesn't change, how do they deal with some games being blind-based and some being ante-based? |

Re: Mixed games - how do they work?
Why don't you tell us the specific mixed game so we can help explain. There could be variations based on the number of players between games for example if one game requires fewer players than the rest.

Re: Mixed games - how do they work?
Well, I was looking to get a mixed home game going with friends (and I have no experience playing mixed games at a casino).
I wanted to include 6 games in the mix: -NL hold em -limit hold em -7 card stud -7 stud 8/OB -PL Omaha -Omaha 8/OB |

Re: Mixed games - how do they work?
My home game is mixed. We switch games each orbit. So we'll play limit hold'em once around the table, O/8 once around, NL Hold'em once around, Badugi once around, 7 Stud once around, etc. and repeat. It works pretty well. We have a loosely-defined rotation of games but by the end of the night we end up playing NL most orbits.

You could go with the old fashioned "Dealer's Choice."

I think they are primarily played limit, or possibly pot-limit. Dealing with games with antes- have the dealer ante for everyone, even when he's not there to actually deal. |
