Default Final Table Money Splits?

how often does this happen?

is it allowed at the World Series? What are examples of when it has happened?

when the players decide to split, do they still play it out, get whatever the offical payouts are, then split it amongst themselves?

WSOP (and probably the WPT,too, though I'm not sure) will not officially recognize a chop, for obvious reasons--they make bad TV.

I'm not sure when this rule was instituted, but Harrington repeatedly offered a chop in 1995 from the beginning of the FT. He even offered financial advising so everyone could invest the money well. He was obviously turned down, and obviously prospered.

If I'm not mistaken, WSOP "recognized" chops in all but the most superficial ways until this year. In other words, they'd give you papers representing the actual amount of money you were walking away with. Sure, you got to play for the bracelet and for the cameras, but chops were allowed.

What I've heard about this year's WSOP is that you have to sign for whatever prize money you took on paper, so it makes chopping difficult unless you know the perople you are dealing with well.

WPT specifically (and ludicriously) outlaws deals, but those tournaments get chopped regularly, too.

Yeah, why would moneymaker refuse to chop with someone who is far better han him.
This has been discussed before and I am 90% sure Farha was the one refusing to chop.

k that's cool. I thought from the Moneymaker coverage of the FT (where he talks about it) it gets Heads up and moneymaker has a decent chip advantage (3:2 I'd say) and Farha asked for a chop and Moneymaker declines as says something to the effect that his tell on farha and his chip advantage gives him quite an advantage.

Of course I'm willing to admit I'm wrong and it seems I am. Just going from memory
