AJ ui: Turnbet?
There are no draws on the flop.
-> villian made a bluffcall or had a madehand. If i always bet the turn i think my strategy is exploitable. So how often should i bet the turn and how often should i play c/f? What change if villian is a good TAG? Re: AJ ui: Turnbet?
I c/f the turn. He usually has a K or underpair here.

Re: AJ ui: Turnbet?
Against a good TAG, I think you should just c/f the turn. He's unlikely to fold a pair to a turn bet, and he really shouldn't be peeling that flop with AQ. I think a turn bet basically means you're committed to a river bet, because the third barrel might get him to lay down his pair; though, I don't know that he's ever folding a pair on this specific board.
Against unknowns or players you know to be habitual flop peelers, I'd bet the turn and fold to a raise or check behind on the river if just called most of the time. |

Check-folding is fine against a super-tight player, but this is entirely READ-dependent. Is this villain a loose peeler? Does he normally give up on the flop, or on the turn? Or do you not know? Is he prone to bluff raising a turned draw? Betting the turn against a LAG is okay, so long as you are willing to look him up with Ace high on occasion. |

Re: AJ ui: Turnbet?
Come on, an aggressive player would tend to raise this flop with a K definitely and probably with other board pairs (depending on how loose his preflop raising standards are) and underpairs. You're ahead of so many Ax combinations that I can't see not betting here.
Against a tight, aggressive, good player a flop call means trouble since he should notice that the board has a K; I think I'd check fold this turn unless I knew he was a loose flop peeler/turn-giver-upper. |
