After learning how to touch-type, I am a lot slower typing if I do look at the keyboard.

I think that's the theory - not sure if there are people looking who can type fast as well. Definitely if you need to look at a written paper or something while you type. But I basically never do that.

I find that I no longer even think about the letters and more just think the word in my head and type it on the scren. As a result I often find that I'll type an incorrect word that kind of sounds like the one I was supposed to type. Anyone else do this?

Isn't typing a standard skill now that everyone uses computers? We started typing classes in like third grade when I was in school and this was back in the late 80s, early 90s.

I would think that only people who have grown up pre-80s would have a problem typing fast.

Where's the "I don't look at the keyboard and type faster than anybody I've ever known" option?

I grew up in the 80s and I had to teach myself how to type. I hunt & pecked up through college (as a CSCI major, I didn't have a choice but to figure out how to type correctly)
