Villain is 54/17/3. If he bets less than pot on the river I'm pretty sure I basically instacall. The overbet threw me off.

It really is pretty close...he could have a missed draw that he is tryin to steal.

its probably really read dependent and I will fold this against some and call against some...

Tough situation. I think I probably fold here though. The pot is small and it's just too expensive to find out if he has a busted flush draw which is about the only thing you beat.

Call. You've induced a bluff against an aggressive player by showing weakness on the turn. Only slightly more than the pot so you get almost 2:1 against someone with a AF of 3

Unless he is prone to overbetting as a bluff on the river you beat nothing and can insta-muck.

I agree with this. I understand Thoth's reasoning about inducing bluffs. I have actually thinking about this topic as my PB Post topic as I'm approaching 1600 posts. However, this is an overbet here.

For the OP, I'm checking this turn almost all the time as well and calling up to a 2/3 pot bet on a safe river. This river bet is more than the pot size, so without a solid read that villain overbets as a bluff, I'm folding as well.

so u have 10$ invested and u wanna pay anther 20 to find out if ur flop top pair was good? i think thats -ev.

he could have had anything just floating around.
in my experience this is bad call w/o a really strong read
