I obviously know nothing about rodents.
About a year ago I bought a hamster for my daughter (almost four), she named it (I didn't check for gender) "Mousey." Mousey has lived in a pink cage neither bothering me nor anyone else. I check on it from time to time to be sure it has food and water, but for the most part I don't give it a second thought.
The land that my house is on, up until a year ago, was a cottonfield. Since I have moved in here I have trapped six or seven mice in my garage (and one in a bag of Tostitos). At first I felt guilty about killing them because I had Mousey living in the house as an invited guest, but that feeling passed. Two weeks ago, my daughter was here for the weekend and asked me to help her catch Mousey who was running around her play room. My daughter normally asks for my help when she wants to put Mousey in the exercise ball, but this is all part of her growing up and doing things for herself. I caught it and it ran around the house in its acrylic orb for a few hours before I put it back in the cage. Yesterday I noticed that the play room was really starting to smell so I put Mousey in the play ball and went to clean out the bottom of the cage. When I begin to remove the paper stuff used for bedding I found the original Mousey (OM) dead in a corner. I, evidentally, do not know the difference between a mouse and a hamster. |

I think new Mousey, obviously the killer of original Mousey, needs a death sentence!

[/ QUOTE ] OM showed no signs of violence, and I can't verify the last time I saw OM living so I don't have sufficient evidence to indict (Why isn't that spelled 'indite' or 'indight?) WM. However due to disease and whatnot WM is on death row and a trip to the pet store is forthcoming. |

How do you tell the difference between a mouse and a hamster? Dear Yasher, A hamster taste likes ham. A mouse tastes like squirrel. [/ QUOTE ] I hope this helps. If not, take it up with the man. |
