Someone found my lost cell phone. Should I give a reward?
I lost my cell phone, probably at a golf course a few days ago. I called the golf course, gave them a description of the phone, etc. I got a new phone yesterday with the same phone number and when I checked voicemail, someone left a message saying he had found my phone and to give him a call back so we could meet up and he could return it. I don't think he's a golf course employee.
Should I give him some sort of reward if I drive to his house to pick it up? If so, what? A friend suggested a bottle of champagne.

I wouldnt give him a reward. Id make sure and tell him thank you and that you appreciate his kindness very much., but thats all id do. It annoys me when people expect a reward for [censored] like this. Not saying he does, but by offering one it continues to propigate that belief.

Actually, leaving a voice mail on teh phone you find is a really good idea. Whats the first thing you do when you lose your phone? Call your voice mail, and then listen to the messages. I dont see how thats a problem?

you should definitely give him a reward.
give him a reward, either in cash or otherwise, worth like a quarter-half of the price it was/would have been to replace it, or something like that.

uhh, yeah. Like Boro said, enough for a meal. Giftcard to Chili's or something. who knows. Cash seems sort of thoughtless, but then you never know what kind of places this guy likes to eat.
He likes golf, so maybe a certificate for 18 holes somewhere? I don't know. give something though. Even if the phone isn't worth much, it's the thought that counts.
