Why are you obsessed by religion ?

Hi,
i'm impressed by the number of subjects about God and religion in such a Science, math and philosophy dedicated forum.
Faith is a personnal thing. faith is not always linked to religion.
Why are you so obsessed whith an hypthetic god. Each one believe what he wants.
Is it because you say from school "god bless america" ?
as an european, i find it a very very strange attitude.
What do you want to prove ?
perhaps i'm a believer, perhaps not, perhaps i even don't know if i am or not... whatever, this is personnal... why would i talk of that.
Philosophy is very very far from being a religious thing.
I'm just curious.

But i'm from those who hate people who try to convert other people to their believing. When i see evangelists i want to kik them in the face. Why don't they let people think what they want to think and they try to influence them. i really cannot understand.

let's talk science and math. God is an hypothese, not a fact. you BELIEVE in it or not. You cannot say anything else about that, god is just a supposition no one can prove. You just believe or not.

it is because many people in the christian sects believe that anyone who does not believe what they do will spend an eternity suffering in Hell so they feel a moral obligation to help us see the truth and be saved from damnation

I've never understood why people can't separate Christianity from the Christian Church (and its many variations). The flaws of Christian churches do not make Christianity a less valid or interesting or useful thing to believe or talk about.

god is a supposition based on mystery, unknown things, ignorance, desperation, hope, joy, whatever... it is a free supposition and concept.And u have all the rights concerning believing in it or not. It is your problem.

I think the reason religion is such a popular topic is that the perceived stakes are very high. It tends to be relevant to a large number of people.

If it's not relevant to you, fine, but then why not just start a thread that's interesting for you rather than complain about all the ones that aren't?

I complain about posts defending god (and then wanting ppl to think like them).
And god faith is not science, math, nor philosophy.
a philosophy topic title is not "u have a god even if u don't have faith"
it would be more "why do man needs to believe in a god".
