Default tournament payout structure

was at a B&M the other day and looking at the payout structure for its 100-200 person no-limit tournament.....

in the actual case, 100 players, 2500 chips, blinds start at 25-25, so M=50 to start.... blinds increase significantly (close to double) every 20 minutes...

for 100 people, 10 places paid.. and here are payout for 1-4 and 10th.

1st = 40%
2nd = 20%
3rd = 10%
4th = 8%
......
10th = 2% (not certain about this one, might be approx.).

but i am SURE that first 4 places paid 78% of prize pool

is that very top-heavy or is that pretty standard for MTT with 100 people in it?

thanks in advance for any responses! much appreciated

It's fairly top heavy, but not too bad. Smells like Foxwoods.

40,20,10,8 is fairly top-heavy, but not terribly unusual.

When paying 10 spots, Caesars does: 34%,20,11,8,7,6,5,4,3,2
When paying 9 spots, Wynn does: 33%,20,14,8,7,6,5,4,3
Mirage Daylight when paying 9: 38%,19,13,7.5,6.5,5.5,4.5,3.5,2.5

Caesars gives top 4 73%. Wynn gives top 4 75%. Mirage gives top 4 77%.
