Default Which FPS to get?

I used to love playing Counter-Strike years agos when everyone played. Haven't really played any games since, but decided I want to play whatevers the new big FPS out there. Does everyone still play Counter-Strike? To be clear, I want a game just like the old counter strike where you'd connect to servers and play rounds against people. Help me POGgers, I'm lost in the video game world.

A lot of people still play Counter-Strike. They did a graphical upgrade called Counter-Strike Source which is probably the biggest FPS out there.

Ah, good to know, thanks Chuck. So if I buy a copy of Source I'll have all I need to play online? I'd have to get a Valve account right?

Day of Defeat is a good WWII fps that focuses on holding control points. You can buy it in a package with Counter Strike: Source and save some money by paying for it online and download the games. DoD requires more strategy and working together, even at the low level of play (though it is much more apparent with better players), whereas in CS I always felt whoever had the best shooters would win.

Getting a steam (program valve uses now to distribute games http://www.steampowered.com) account is no problem. Also a cool thing about steam is you can buy source through steam and download right now.

I don't need to pay anything extra right? Buy the game and its unlimited online multiplayer?

And Tabako, I did see my friend play DoD a bucnh, and I played it for a bit myself. I think I like CS better.

Yea you just pay with a credit card, download the game, and then can play whenever you want online.

So just to be sure, Steam offers "Counter-Strike," "Counter-Strike: Condition Zero," and "Counter-Strike: Source." I should definitely get Source right?
