Hi, new to the forums looking to improve my MTT play
Hi,
My name is Nick. I have been playing for about 2 years now and I have a fairly firm grasp on a majority of the basic concepts of the game (pot odds, implied odds, reading the texture of the board etc.) I play on pokerstars, my roll started out about a year ago when I got $2.40 for 200k play money chips and I've been playing and winning consistantly, I have cashed out $300 and my roll is currently at the $200 mark. My profit has come stedily thorough micro limit cash games and 1-2 table SnGs. Recently I have been playing the 45 man $1.20 SnGs and consistantly moneying in them and making a decent profit, but I find myself getting a ton of thirds and seconds just b/c I have the short stack entering three handed. I played in two $4.40 180 mans and got 21st and 9th. Then I reconized that the problem with my MTT game is my lacking ability to steal pots. So I've been trying a lot harder to steal blinds and pots mid-late in the tournament from the middle stacks and I've been fairly successful, landing a 3rd in another $4.40 180 man. I definately sense there is room for improvement in my pot stealing ability though. So I was hoping that you guys could help me out with some questions I am going to have or just provide me with some basic pointers. Thanks, Nick |

Re: Hi, new to the forums looking to improve my MTT play
This place is a gold mine for MTT wisdom. But it's strictly self-serve here. If I were you I'd start with the three threads stickied to the top of this forum, especially the anthology.
Welcome to the forums. |

Stealing pots has a lot to do with who your opponents are. If you notice that they are significantly tight then you can get away with it more. If not and they tend to protect there blinds then value bet more.
