Default Give up this pot on the river..??

OK,
I'll go without the Graemlins.

Party NL $400 6 max

Villian is unknown, only a couple dozen hands. Table has been pretty LAGGY though. There have been several instances of mischievious behavior so far.

Hero ($404) is on button with Ah Kd

Folded to villian ($495) in MP who comes in for $14
CO calls..
Hero calls. Should I have raised it with a caller already in?

SB, BB fold.

$48 in pot.

Flop is Kc 4c 2d
Checked to Hero who bets $35

Called by villian, CO folds.

$118 in pot

Turn is 6d, so two flush possibilities out now.

Checked to Hero who bets $78

Called by villian.

No raise with 2 flushes out, so I am discounting a set for villian.

$274 now in the middle.

River is 10d, backdoor diamond flush.

Villian bets $125.

NOW WHAT..!!????

Diamond flush, hit the 3rd card for a suckout set, ..
busted flush bluff..??

Oh woe, what to do..?????

He cant have the flush unless he has Ad3d or Ad5d. He also has to be an idiot. Call.

Call. You're not behind here >75% of the time here and you only need to be good here 24% of the time (125/524). You'll lose this pot often but not often enough.

You played it fine. Now call the river.

Reraising preflop is perfectly OK as well.

Thanks guys..,

villian turned over K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for the suckout.

I really appreciate the input. And I WILL bet more on the turn in similar situations in the future.

Yep, some tough cards combined with foolish play did me in.

I found some money under the couch cushions, so I will be playing $1/2 6 max pretty soon.

So, who are you again?

Tony

Tony,

I speak for the 90+% of 2+2 that genuinely would like to see you improve your play and your results. I'm happy to see that you are sticking around.

Post more hands and work on your attitude towards where the money comes from in poker.
