Default Standard Re-raise amount

The standard raise preflop is 3-5x BB, and I often here when you reraise you should put in about a pot sized reraise, so which of these two is a pot sized reraise? (Blinds 50/100 No Ante)
1) Villan raises to 300 UTG, 5 folds, Hero (button) raises to 450.
2) Villan raises to 300 UTG, 5 folds, Hero (button) raises to 750

Thanks,
Nick

Default Re: Standard Re-raise amount

Pot = Blinds (100+50) + UTG's bet amount (300) + amount you will have to call before you can raise (300) = 750. So a good reraise would be to 300+750 so around 1000.
