Why did Italy wear blue and US wear white?
I was confused at first watching the US-Italia world cup game as to which team was which.
Does one team always wear white? If so, was that put in for black and white television? It seems strange because there is no blue in the Italian flag. Why blue for Italy? Also, US teams usually wear blue. US soldiers wore blue before they went to camouflage.

The listed home team for the match was Italy. As a result of this Italy wore their first jerseys, which are blue. The US has to wear a contrasting color so went with their whites.
I'm slightly guessing with this, but this is the way it works in soccer with league play - home team gets their first kit, away team then goes with their first if it isn't too close, second if it is.

Even when they are wearing white, they are wearing blue.
"Why was Italy wearing blue? It's not the colors of their flag..." They always wear blue.
