I would have folded pre-flop. I've found that raises with trash in this situation often gets me in trouble. If they had smaller stacks, I'd be okay with it since they won't get involved unless they really have a hand - so you'll hear about it. After you raise and they check to you, you really have to hope they don't call your c/b. If they do, you're in bad shape. For instance, you bet out nearly 1300 chips here that could have been saved. Maybe I've just been unlucky lately, but I find it better to conserve my chips here.

On the flop... tough situation. I think he likely has a better kicker than you or something like A8. The check min-raise on the bubble usually means you're in bad shape. I would let it go. I know it sucks that you're now down 1600 chips, but I really don't think you're ahead that often here.

On the plus side, if he has a jack, since it's a paired board, there is a good chance you could be splitting the pot. But I wouldn't want to gamble here on that.

I guess you're sorta committed now. I push.

This is why you fold preflop.

I'd fold pre-flop, but as played I'd open push the flop.

why is everyone saying to fold pf? good chance i take it down pf and good chance i take it down on the flop. ive got 2 chances to take down a nice pot and if neither work im still about even with 3rd place.

anyway i folded the flop. what does he have that im ahead of? the few times he has 99/tt 22-77 arent worth it. i think im way behind here most of the time and just praying to chop. i dont see me ever getting bluffed.

thats why im raising pf and betting the flop because they need to hit hands to play back. when they dont, i take down the pot. normally i would shove here, but this time i really dont see me being ahead.

comments?

Taking down the blinds doesn't increase your PPE much at all and you're doing it with a trash hand. The PFR and the continuation bet on the other hand has a chance of knocking down your PPE. (PPE = prize pool equity, incase it isn't common)

I see no good reason to get involved like this on the bubble with such trash.
