Default Million Dollar Baby Review (Spoilers) ENT

Clint Eastwood stars as a very old boxing trainer who never made it to a title fight. He never misses Church Mass and writes letters to his daughter which are returned unanswered. His friend is Morgan Freeman who helps run the gym and is missing an eye.

Eastwood's protege has decided to sign with a different manager because Eastwood continually insists that he is not ready for the big fight, because you only have one shot to win or lose once you fight for the title.

Coincidentally, after the protege leaves a 30 year old hick played aptly by Hillary Swank shows up and says to Eastwood "I ain't never liked nothing mo then boxing boss". This may or may not be a surprise to you, but Morgan Freeman plays the same character he plays in every single movie he makes. He "took him a shinning to her" and lets her use the gym and borrow equipment. She stays day and night at the gym training by herself and doing everything wrong. Eventually, Eastwood agrees to train her and she becomes a very strong fighter, so strong that she knocks out her opponents in the first round, which doesnt give her a chance to learn to defend herself or have enough experience. Eastwood continually tells her to " protect herself ". It turns out that Morgan Freemans glass eye was awarded to him in a fight after Eastwood failed to through in the towel for him, after he failed to protect him.

Hillary has now won enough money to move her family from their trailer to a house. As she puts it "Wow, woo boss. Place got air conditioning, plumbing and the works." She is set to fight the top Bull Dike named Bear. Morgan Freeman notes watching Bear's dirty fighting techniques "she dont care if those moves can kill a person ".

Somewhere in the middle of the movie, the male version of Swank named Danger who hangs around the gym is beaten up by the other gym members and runs away .

Swank fights the big fight. Bear fights dirty. Swank's neck get broken.

She spends sometime in the hospital and isnt going to recover. She gets her leg amputated, and says "They done took my leg boss". Eventually, she asks Clint to kill her. After deliberation he abides. Upon killing her, he doesnt return to his gym. The last place we see him is in a dinner that has "real apple pie, not that filling crap" as he remarked to Swank earlier in the movie.

As it turns out, Danger returns to the gym that same morning and decides he hasnt quit boxing because "anyone can lose one fight".

Million Dollar Baby is probably the most nausiating movie since Shawshank Redemption. There is not a single event in the movie that surprises an intelligent viewer. These cliche techniques are known as smoking guns. For instance, if Hero carries around an inhaler, then you are 100% guaranteed that he will lose the inhaler.

The fact that a piece of crap like this can win The Best Picture Award is depressing to say the least. It reminds me of El Diablo's thread, where he says that while he can eat KFC and enjoy it, he knows that KFC sucks. If that is someone's attitude towards this movie, then I guess I can live with that. But I never eat at KFC.

It was a good movie, and FWIW, look what movies it was up against. Really easy to win there.

You would have predicted the injury if you hadn't heard about it before? I think you are either lying or... well you are just lying.
