The Barry Bonds Witch Hunt continues
The sports media and lemming fans who believe everything they hear have already burned him at the stake. It doesn't matter if he is innocent or guilty, and if guilty of something, it doesn't matter to what degree. You've already all rushed to judgment. Now senators are trying to get some cheap pub on his name. Federal officials might as well set him up at this point.
Shame on all of you. |

Re: The Barry Bonds Witch Hunt continues
I think this thread has validity. This is the point where the witch hunt has exceeded the 'crime', and the man's going to have to go through a process that could take a long time, will put a lot of otherwise undue stress on he and his loved ones and could lead to jail time because he's 'not nice' There's been a lot of [censored] spewed over the last year re: barry, this is where the effect is going to be felt. I think there are a lot of people who need to stand up take responsibility for their actions, and most of them are sitting at keyboards, not on the field.
If we don't start seeing a few more articles of apology and self-reprimandation, I'm not going to be impressed. |

It's rare that Jason Whitlock puts twenty words together in a coherent way. He put 1200 good ones together in this piece.

Re: The Barry Bonds Witch Hunt continues
Speaking of the media witchhunt, for a moment, let's examine the objective contrast given by "sports journalist" John Donovan, of SI.com:
Donovan On Bonds, May 11th: [ QUOTE ] Of course, we know that much of what Bonds has done is unbelievable, at least as far as doing it naturally. Many of those home runs, we all have to admit now, were probably chemically aided. [/ QUOTE ] He opines that "we have to admit" that Bonds was probably chemically aided. He refuses to afford Bonds a presumption of innocence. But, however, when what does he say of the breaking revelations of Pujol's trainer's involvement with Grimsley? John Donovan on June 8th says: [ QUOTE ] And let's get this straight: Even if that is Mihlfeld's name under the black ink on page 14 of Novitzky's affidavit, that's a long way from being charged, let alone convicted, of anything. [/ QUOTE ] There you have it folks, John Donovan believes strongly in the presumption of innocence and in not jumping to any conclusions before a man has been charged or convicted of wrongdoing....unless of course the man in question happens to be Barry Bonds. |

[/ QUOTE ] C'mon Redbean, there's a whole book out there with extensive research and detail about Barry's activities. If it's not true Barry slaps a libel suit on in a heartbeat, who wouldn't? To presume his innocence is to willfully ignore the evidence, all of which has been repeated ad nauseum. I guess there are a few who want to keep the faith though, the rest of us don't need the 'alleged' nonsense. |
