Default barry bonds hr, bad beat!

I am hardly what you would call a baseball fan, but somehow I ended up at the A's giants game on saturday. After drinking some beers and chowing down on carne asada at a tailgate party, we settled into our seats, in section 145-146.

I'm not so clueless that I don't know about Barry Bonds, so at his first at bat I whip out my camera to record. On the second pitch, pop, he takes his first swing and hits one right towards my section. I try to follow the ball with my camera, and do a pretty bad job of it. It's coming right towards me, so instead I try to focus on the people trying to catch it.

Some kid ends up getting it, and security immediately whisks him away. Everyone goes nuts for a while, and I don't really think about it.

Today in the paper, I read about this kid. Similar balls have sold for $700,000 (!!!!!) and the kid is going on talk shows.

I had NO IDEA that the ball would be worth anything, let alone this much!!! WTF?? I'm seriously depressed i wasn't sitting 5 seats forward or that I didn't make a grab at it.

Anyway, baseball is still a boring sport.

It must be really cozy under that rock, man. Real cozy indeed. Do you have cable under there?

If you didn't have the option to resell it, how much would you pay for that ball?

Five rows off is as much as a mile, don't kill yourself.

On the other hand, not to know what was going on is definitely pretty lame.

yeah, i think it was a mcguire ball that fetched 700k, forgot which one.

I also read that some people offered the kid $50k right then and there at the game and he refused.

Barry had some great quote about "giving people the opportunity to better their standing" by hitting home runs.
