Freezing Stuff Tips Thread
Summertime is upon us. Let us collectively make good use of our freezers. Post your freezing stuff tips here. I'm pretty sure theres quite a few that are non-food related too, that I can't think of right now. Tips do not necessarily have to do with summer.
Take a knife and cut a slit in the top of your yogurt container. Put a plastic spoon in your container and replace the lid. Freeze for a health frozen yogurt on a stick. (I'll put one in the freezer tonight and post a pic in the AM) Fill empty 16/20oz plastic bottles with water and keep them in the freezer. During your softball/soccer/volleyball etc. games it will melt into long lasting cold water. (between beers that is). Don't fill the bottles all the way. Frozen bananas make a great ice cream substitute. I've frozen them whole or sliced. Skins will turn dark brown of black. Don't be afraid of this. |

Freeze a donut.
I don't know what happens, but I've never heard anyone trying this before. |

Freeze grapes. They taste like chilly candy. Yum.
Also, you cannot kill a cockroach by freezing it. Just a random fact I know. I haven't tried it. I also know that they can live a week without their heads. And when they die without a head, it's from starvation. |

i have to assume this means 'in a conventional freezer.' You can pretty much kill anything by freezing it.

Re: Freezing Stuff Tips Thread
nuking it for 10 seconds or so will make it good as new. buttermilk and raised both work amazingly well considering how abominable day old donuts are.
caution, fillings can get much hotter than you expect. |

Re: Freezing Stuff Tips Thread
i freeze them with a sprinkle of splenda and try to put them on a tray, not a baggie...that way they end up separate and easier to eat.
once they are solid, you can bag them, but don't put pressure on them or the pressure will cause them to freeze together. |
