Just curious -- how many of you, given the opportunity, would enact confiscatory UK-style gun control in the United States?

America is a much different nation than the UK. Not that I agree with a lot of the gun crowd (especially on handgun areas) Confiscating the weapons is doomed to failure in the US.

The CDC and the FBI both say gun control doesn't reduce crime. Considering most of the lead guys at the CDC are from cambridge (MIT, Harvard, etc) which is in the middle of the crazy left state of MA, I think I'm going to have to take their word on it.

I don't dispute your claims as to the crime connection. But I notice that those who do support confiscatory gun control don't seem to care about the crime connection anyway when you get right down to it.

Gun Control is a joke anyway.. the whole idea is that the population should be adequately armed should *tyrants* rise to power. The population could never compete with the weapons of the army and armed forces, today. 250 years ago, when muskets were widely available, cheap and easily produced, the governments technological edge on the population was low. The technological cap is now much to high now. Basically keep your guns but things are only going to get worse.
