Gilbert Arenas too?
Since we are talking about John Daly and Sir Charles, Gilbert Arenas is worthy of discussion
http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/14497260.htm Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas is a character. He took one of his best friend's cars when he beat him in bowling. He plays online poker at times at halftime when he's not taking a shower in his uniform or changing everything from his uniform to his underwear because he had a bad half. http://washingtontimes.com/sports/20...4035-7161r.htm He's no addict One thing Gilbert Arenas wants everyone to know is that he's not addicted to online poker. About two week ago a story ran that said that Arenas played online poker during halftime. Well, he does, but he's not playing Wi-Fi poker. Not at all. "Everybody keeps saying that it's online, but it's not," Arenas said before last night's Game 5 playoff game in Cleveland. "It's a DVD, that's it. In fact, I don't even play online." |

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...050402177.html Think Kobe-Raja is hot? That's nothing compared with Moneymaker-Arenas. In our previous installment, 2003 World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker boasted that Gilbert Arenas would "get chewed up and spit out" in a heads-up matchup, if Arenas were to follow his Texas Hold 'Em strategy of playing every hand through to the flop. Moneymaker's comments were somehow relayed to Arenas (okay, we told him), who fired back. "He said that?" an amazed Arenas asked. "He's not going to bluff me. All in, all in, all in." "Gil, you don't want to do him like that," warned Jared Jeffries, another poker aficionado. "That'd be like him trying to come out here and play basketball with us." "That's true, too," Arenas said. Wonder how Moneymaker feels about defending the baseline. |

Re: Gilbert Arenas too?
So in an interview last month, Gilbert said that he likes to play poker online at halftime on occasion. I believe that he didn't anticipate that David Stern would be asked to speak of the legality of online poker, which is why Arenas backtracked.
His playing at halftime is not much different than any of us playing on our lunch break, which makes it really compulsive behavior! |
