stupid psychology question
From another thread...
[ QUOTE ] Villain is new to table, but seems mildly loose. [/ QUOTE ] Does anyone think it matters whether Hero bets $765 or $330? What are the implications for betting your large stack versus betting Villain's small stack? Does it matter live vs. online? What about betting odd amounts that appear on the screen as a lot of chips, e.g. $102.63? |

Re: stupid psychology question
No. You could argue it both ways: 765 shows a huge amount of strength and you want to get whatever is in there no matter what, but 330 shows you know exactly how much your opponent has and know thats all you need.
Think about something else. |

Re: stupid psychology question
This is like when you're playing live and instead of saying "I'm all in" you say "I put you all in." A lot of people take the latter as kind've a dick move. I don't know if saying "I put you all in" or betting the exact amount somebody has left will get you more spite calls or not. But I think if it does influence a person's decision it will make them call more simply out of spite.

Re: stupid psychology question
This is the kind of stupid question I like. The only way to answer something like this is to build a huge set of hands and look for significant differences.
Is this something people actually do? Studying psychology ive found some weird [censored] becomes significant, so Id assume with poker there are some weird things like this too. conjecture alone is useless, but id be interested to see if there is anyone out there spending time looking at differences like this. after all, its all about finding edges. |

Re: stupid psychology question
I like to bet all-in because pot odds look better, at least at the site I'm playing at.
What about a river c/r? |
