Default (5.50 Stars) AQs w/ 12 BB UTG

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

MP1 has been extremely tight. Has not yet raised preflop.

Hero (t1275)
UTG+1 (t2140)
MP1 (t1250)
CO (t1425)
Button (t2280)
SB (t2275)
BB (t2855)

Preflop: Hero is in UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Hero raises to t300, UTG+1 folds, MP1 raises to t500, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds

Two questions:

1. Was my initial raise correct?

2. What do I do after MP1's small reraise?

Pushing preflop is unexploitable here, and 13 BB's does not leave a lot of room for postflop play.

If you are going to open raise, make it 250.

As played, shove over the minraise, at a 5.50 you will see way too much weird stuff and you have already invested >20 percent of your stack.

1. push with <13 BB
2. reads..., but readless on a 5.50, this is a push.

He gave a perfectly valid read.

Frankly, I'm folding to the reraise.

Open Raise here for 250-275 and fold only given your read. Readless I would reshove this. While open-shoving this spot is unexpliotable I still think a raise here is a better option if you are good at post flop play.

Shove shove shove shove shove
I really don't like a standard raise here. You don't have enough room for any post-flop play.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Whenever I have between 12-14 BBs I feel that I've one opportunity to steal the blinds before I go to pushbot mode. So I raise 3XBB depending on card strength and position. If I'm reraised I generally fold based on reads and stack size. If I'm called it's either all in or fold on the flop. Is this a big leak?

You can open-raise in LP but I wouldn't want to play AQs oop against any number of unpredictable opponents with a 10-14 BB stack. I think it doesn't even really matter how good you are post-flop, playing a big pot oop with 10-14 BBs can't be much more profitable than pushing. The general idea of just raising isn't necessarily a leak but it might easily lead you to situations where you have leaks.
