Default Quick Question

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have learned a lot from MSNL and think it is a valuable resource to any poker player. The advice is great and I would like to thank all of the poster's. So, now on to my question.

How imperative is it to have a plan for future betting rounds? Is it necessary to have a plan for the future betting rounds for certain cards that will come up? Or is it better to see what the opponent does first?

Also, what do you think is the most important skill for a top poker player to have? Hand reading ability? Handling adversity? Being able to adjust to the different situations? etc?

Thanks.

There is no importance of having a plan for future betting rounds.

I feel the most important skill of a top player is knowing how people will react to your bets. Most people can hand read pretty well(at least I feel I can), but it's harder and more important what your opponent will do if you checkraise allin.

You are aksing all the rite question.

A plan is a must in every hand you play. Try not to let the cards on the board dictate your play to much. Hand reading comes with betting, the more you play, the better you'll get. Adversity? Don't let it bother you as you are probably a confident player. Also changing gears is a must, this all depends on your table image and the players around. You'll just have to play with better players to get up to speed. GL

i think the most important skill is being able to deduce the rank and suit of each one of your whole cards, and hopefully your half cards too.

also almost as important is hand reading i.e. when there are 5 cards on the board and 2 (sometimes 4!) in your hand you have to be able to pick the best 5 to make a poker hand, but do so within difficult time constraints.
