Re: PS $60: AK BvB faces big river bet
(from lower stackes) I'd bet the turn because I think that if you're raised you can safely release the hand.
Now as played, if you've checked for pot control this is a fold. If you checked to induce a bluff this is a call. Does it make sense ? I'd probably fold. |

Re: PS $60: AK BvB faces big river bet
I think the flop and turn are standard. I would call pretty much any river bet, but this overbet is a ten so much.

Re: PS $60: AK BvB faces big river bet
Problem with the turn check is you're still letting draws see a free card. Against an unknown, with only 2 seeing the flop, on a coordinated board, I'm never letting off the gas with TPTK.

Rex, checking for pot control and inducing bluffs go hand-in-hand.
Your line is good as long as you called the river. |

I play it the same way. I think you see Ax, busted draws, and random crap enough to make this a call on the river.

I like the way you played it. Even though it reeks of a T or sixes full, I probably still can't fold it BvB.

Nice. I called. Obv he had a ten. Why do people overbet hands like this so much? I would think most people would value bet a smaller amt that is more likely to get called.

Not that it's any consolation, but he played it horribly, Darin. Unfortuneatly you had one of the only hands you actually would call with that he can beat.

Nice. I called. Obv he had a ten. Why do people overbet hands like this so much? I would think most people would value bet a smaller amt that is more likely to get called. [/ QUOTE ] Because they slowplay, then suddenly realize the only way to make any money off their pretty hand is to overbet. It's actually not a horrible way to play the hand against a solid opponent who might fold a turn bet but be tempted to look up a river bet. But I seriously doubt this guy was thinking at that level. Edit: actually I thought he had position. I don't think going for the CR on the turn is that bad at all by villian. I got sucked into one yesterday - T-high flop 4-way pot. I have T7o in BB. Checks around flop and turn, which are a brick and a J on river, no draws. Then UTG open shoves river for 2x pot. Fold fold to me. Why would he do that with a J I ask? What could he have played that way? So curiosity gets the better of me and I call to see TT. Bad I know, save your breath pudge. Also bet closer to the pot next time on such a coordinated flop. |
