Interesting hand - Top two, villain takes a strange line
Villain is 25/19/3 and relatively competant and aggressive. His line on this hand makes so little sense. I really don't feel like he's just cold calling in position with a flush draw, and surely a set raises me somewhere before the river with the two spades out?
Preflop typically i'd reraise, but i'd been fairly active so I elected to call this time around. Any thoughts? EDIT: Oh and i'm running about 24/20/2.5 and playing pretty agro. Villain probably views me as good, perhaps a tad spewy. I really don't feel like he's just cold calling in position with a flush draw [/ QUOTE ] seems pretty standard not to raise a flush draw w/ utg to act behind him. he's probably got like 9s8s |

I hate this spot.
I can't really see what you're beating with that raise. You've taken a really strong line......donking into 2 people on the flop and a 3/4 turn and 1/2 pot river bet. As played I'd probably fold. |

Really? I'd be raising 8s9s even with UTG still to act if I were in his spot. On that flop your equity is 50% against a big ace and the donk bet from me doesn't really mean much necessarily.
I suppose in theory he could be calling with an eight+FD, but since his stats somewhat mirror mine i'm inclined to feel he'd raise it somewhere since I definitely would. -Andy |

I call river here. [/ QUOTE ] lol. why don't you put him on a hand. I mean for the people that think this is a bluff, what hand gets to the river LIKE THIS and THEN decides to bluff? he'd have to call 2 streets with SOMETHING and then be like "omg what an awesome scare card, I'll raise him off his hand even though he's lead at me on three streets, lol" |

Re: Interesting hand - Top two, villain takes a strange line
Yea, I don't tend to post many hands but this one really baffled me. I just couldn't put him on a hand when he played like that. I have to go to bed now but i'll check back in the morning. To sum up my thoughts:
If he's got a pair+FD I feel like he's likely to raise the flop. The PF raiser is pretty loose I might add, and his UTG raise doesn't mean much. Neither does my donk bet necessarily. Unless one of us has a set he's got great equity combined with fold equity. That said, this is the only hand I can think of that could cold call two streets and get to the river like this. A set most probably raises the flop, and if not, then the turn. After I show strength on the turn there's a good chance i've got a big ace if not two pair and he should pull the trigger to extract, instead of waiting to raise the river when the flush hits. A naked flush draw doesn't call down I don't think. And a weaker two pair never plays like. I can't see him playing A8 or whatever this way. The only hand he could conceivably be turning into a bluff is a weaker ace like AT that realises it isn't any good, but that would be a pretty sick play and I really doubt it's profitable/that he's capable of doing it. So with that in mind, thoroughly confused. -Andy |

I'd lay 2:1 that villain does not have 89s here if you're that confident in your hand reading skills. |

I'd take a hand we bet over your range, which is 2pairs, one pairs, and no pairs. |
