Folding QQ preflop. Standard fold, tough fold, or bad fold?
6-handed $2/$4NL
All have $400 stacks. Utg is 21/13/2 and raises to $20. He gets cold called by two 40+vpips. I have QQ in the small blind and re-raise to $100. The utg thinks for about 5seconds and then shoves. Others fold and I did too. |

Call, b/c even against a tight range you have the odds to call.
Hand 0: 60.143% 59.92% 00.22% 172384116 626394.00 { KK+, AKs, AKo } Hand 1: 39.857% 39.64% 00.22% 114030168 626394.00 { QQ } |

You need 36% equity to make the call by the way.

[/ QUOTE ] lol, yeah, you're basically flipping for it. personally, I can't find a fold after putting in 1/4 my stack with QQ. I know several regs in my game that have. like you said you don't need a lot of equity to make this call. All I meant was that it wasn't a terrible fold. it's negative EV in the long run, but if he wants to do it, then I'm not one to bash. I actually ran into this a couple of weeks ago. I was playing 1/2nl live. stacks were $200 effective. utg raised to like $15, one caller, I pop to 60, btn shoves and shows his cards to the other end of the table. other two hem and haw for a second and muck. I'm pretty sure he's got me beat, but I can't find a fold since he was so laggy. |

it's negative EV in the long run [/ QUOTE ] Well if it's -EV, then it's a bad fold. |

Re: Folding QQ preflop. Standard fold, tough fold, or bad fold?
Some things that were going through my mind:
He opened 5x utg in a loose game, making me think he was very strong. It was only my second orbit, and I folded every hand up until that point. I think he's less likely to make a move against a seemingly tight unknown. My play looks very squeeze-like making me think something like TT or JJ was a small possibility. So are you guys saying that if I 3-bet intending to fold to a 4-bet I should've made it something like $75-$85? But as played it's +EV to call? Or is it +EV to get in 100bb with QQ against his range? |

Re: Folding QQ preflop. Standard fold, tough fold, or bad fold?
if you go anywhere from 90ish up, you are committed unless you somehow "know" he has aa/kk. you are committing about 1/4 of your stack into a good pot with a big hand. do not fold. you put 100 into a pot and created a good situation - you have to call 300ish into a 550ish pot with qq. I don't see the problem. if he wakes up with bigger, call it a cooler and move on.
