Default 88 NL100 step by step

UTG has similar stats as I do (24/19) through 100 hands, but is fishy and weird (notice he's posting UTG.) In an earlier hand he called my UTG raise with J5s and floated a 3-way AK6r flop. Other villain is 18/15 over about 80 hands and seems okay. We haven't tangled and I don't know how he got his stack. I got mine by sucking out on a semi-bluff in a 3-bet pot.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $1.00 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

SB ($108.95)
BB ($137.15)
UTG ($101.50)
MP ($382.35)
CO ($196.35)
Hero ($171.65)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $1.50.
UTG (poster) raises to $6, 1 fold, CO calls $6, Hero calls $6, 2 folds.

Flop: ($20) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
UTG bets $17, CO raises to $45

Hero?

(I assume PF is standard, but chime if not...)

I would call because I want UTG to get frisky and any raise you make is gonna be awkward because of your deepish stacks. I think calling and hoping UTG shoves light is the best option.

PF seems fine.

Overcalling here looks way more suspect than shoving....

In game, I shove here 100% of the time because of the board texture. I mean there are 11 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3 Jacks, 3 Nines, 3 Sixes, 3 Fours that I don't want to see on the turn. Which is 23 of the 47 possible turn cards. Calling will correctly price these draws in, so I shove for value/hand protection.

In theory, overcalling is so sexy. In a perfect world you call, UTG shoves, CO insta-shoves, and you type, "ship it" in the chat. Sounds so good.

Okay looks like the consensus is all-in. In retrospect, I agree. In the moment though, I got greedy...
