Bank roll question that I dont get
300bb is the standard answer to how big a BR you need for a limit.
But i constantly see people saying its standard for a 100-150bb downswing... If you take a hit like that at 300bb its a good bet you will move down again quick. i am playing .25/.50 and I've experienced being forced to move down before. It blew monkey nuts... So even though I'm have 326bb at .5/1 I'm going to bullet proof it by making it 500 bb before moving up. Weak tight? Smart? |

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
That's fine. A good source of mine suggests 300-500BB. I like that advice. Theoretically there is some lowering of stakes with the larger than average downswings, yes.

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
It all depends on your winrate, risk tolerance and how you will react to the inevitable bad runs.
I will take shots at a new limit with as little as 120BB for that limit. But if I don't run well immediately I drop right back down (I also cash out parts of my br all the time). I've heard that 1000BB is a good br for 100/200 players. |

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
All depends on what your comfortable with. At the moment, I can move up (if you go by 300bb's). Other people want to play at a particular level until they feel that they're beating the game there. I personally prefer 500bb's so that if you hit a mini downswing, its no big deal. On the other hand, I've heard of people taking shots and moving up the limits really quickly.

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
I did 300bb, and used that as my rule ot move up from .02/.04 all the way to .5/1. Then I moved up to 1/2 and got destroyed, rebuilt to $600 after dropping down, tried again and got destroyed.
Now I used the 500bb rule |

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
300 bb is fine for .01/.02--> 3/6.
5/10 = 500 bb 10/20 = 1000 bb 15/30 ++ = 1000bb (min) HOLLA |

Re: Bank roll question that I dont get
My bankroll currently is enough for 1/2 but I am still playing at .25/50 and .50/1.00 most of the time. Especially now since I am in in the middle of a 200bb downswing. So while you are learning, 500 bb is probably a number that will let you tough out the lousy situations you find yourself in when in the middle of a downswing.
I am confident at the half dollar tables so I know that no matter the swing I am going to survive. If you don't have confidence and you are afraid of losing your bankroll you will lose it through misplay much more often than bad fortune. So now I am rolled for 1200 bb at the half dollar level, confidence is down, but I know that I am making the right moves 90% of the time. Fixing mistakes is a lot easier when your bankroll isn't going to take too much damage. I also thought of a simple challenge for people that will let them try higher levels without much risk and continue to build your bankroll at the same time. Pyramid Challenge |
