Default McCain - decent polls but very low on tradesports.com - why?

In the most recent NYT poll (pdf), McCain did pretty well among those planning on voting in the Republican primary.

Giuliani - 27
Thompson - 22
McCain - 18
Romney - 14

But if you look at tradesports.com (basically a site where you can wager on political events and other things, it functions like a stock market), the prices are

Giuliani - 38
Romney - 25
Thompson - 23
McCain - 2

Is it because McCain's campaign is basically broke? Is there anything else going on? Is there a site or a good forum that discusses politics with tradesports.com-type numbers in mind? I'm sick of reading about McCain discussed like he's a major candidate if in fact he has basically no shot of winning.

1. That poll has him higher than other polls I've seen

2. He's broke

3. There probably is some lag from the horrible news about his campaign a month or two ago that tradesports hasn't caught up with.

4. I think he's doing poorly in important early states.

The reason he has less of a shot is because the right-wing media hates him and will badmouth him incessantly if he ever became a real contender.

McCain is seen as the John Kerry of the Republican party. He will say anything to get elected or promote himself.

Here is an interesting article about him-
Be Afraid of President McCain

If he was seen as a prototype politician, his numbers would be in line with everyone else (or even higher). I'm not claiming he is that much different than the others, but his appearance is much worse than others.

He was too old to run for president 8 years ago.

Default McCain Took a Crap on the Conservatives via

McCain took a crap on conservatives with his:
1. Anti-1st Amendment Bill aka McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform
2. Voted for amnesty despite OVERWHELMING voter anger over this issue. He basically gave the finger to the American people saying your wrong and Ted Kennedy and I'm right. So screw you... This is by far the most significant issue.
3. NUMEROUS defections to Dems over many issues... He is closer to a FDR democrat than a Reagan Republican..

Now, that phony McCain has changed his tune on Amnesty and claims he is now a border security first guy..... What a [censored] liar... Besides policially McCain has been completely unreliable with regard to supporting the Republican causes. The press calls him a Maverick Repub.....can anyone here name ONE democrat that the press calls a maverick Dem? I can't stand McCain.

McCain was a failure as a military pilot (only his father kept him from being court marshalled and booted out of the Navy), he was a member of the notorius "Keating 5" and rebuked by the Senate ethics committee for trading campaign cash for influence, and he is a total failure as a Repub in supporting the party platforms.

The only success in his life was marrying a rich beautiful woman......after dumping his first wife who stood by him when he was in a North Vietnamese prison..... He is a terrible human being.... He is not worthy of being elected dog catcher much less a US Senator...

The Gang of Seven debacle was bad enough, then his immigration stance clinched it. He has no shot with conservatives.

2. He's broke

[/ QUOTE ]
Being broke is the symptom. The root cause of him problems is the positions he has taken... People give money to candidates that they like... He has backstabbed the Repub base MANY-MANY times. Don't confuse popolarity in Arizona with national popularity with the party. His poor fund raising was a self inflicted wound based on his voting record... People are only noticing now because he had to wait 8 years to run for president again. Many of the people that supported him 8 years ago ...now hate his guts...

McCain gets good press from the mainstream media because he is willing to bash Bush on the Sunday morning talk shows. Sam Johnson(R-TX) was a Vietnam POW but he NEVER gets an invite from the Sunday morning shows. If he would bash Bush, he would get the invite...
