Default Beaches/Swimming near Australian Crown Casino?

Are there any beaches near the crown casino. I am aware that it is near the Yara River but was wandering how long it would take to drive/bike to the beaches from the casino or the southbank area. Thanks. (im assuming people dont swin in the Yara river right?)

Not really. You can take tram to St. Kilda and go to the beach there. But remember Melbourne is on a Bay, it's not the ocean and the beach kind of sucks. For surf you need to drive to Geelong (45 min+) or some other beach spot. It's cold this time of year though. And no, do not swim in the Yarra river.

Its way too cold to swim at any of the beaches unless its the middle of summer.
