Default Showdown of Hands

Hi guys

At our homegame, at a showdown, we usually reveal cards like this:
SB first, then BB etc... Everyone is allowed to muck if he's NOT first to show... If he's first to show he cannot muck his cards...

However, as online and I guess as in most Casinos, it's usually the last better/raiser that has to show his cards first, is that right? Or is it at least the majority? I think we have to adjust to that as well, even if it's a detail... (but it still changes the game a bit in terms of bluffing in position etc., where you don't need to show your bluff when the guy calls you with 1 pair and you're beat...)

So my question: Do you guys know any Casinos where Showdown is in regular action - sequence: SB, BB, UTG etc. or is basically every casino and every online casino with the showdown structure "last better/raiser reveals first"?

Also: Are players allowed to ask to see the cards and opponent HAS to show? Or is it "voluntary"? In what situations does this occur? Anytime someone mucks?

Cheers and many thanks

You should understand that in most poker games players do not all wait for the hands to be shown in order. Many players -- would venture to say most players who have a hand they think is a winner just turn it over.

From Roberts Rules:

If everyone checks (or is all-in) on the final betting round, the player who acted first is the first to show the hand. If there is wagering on the final betting round, the last player to take aggressive action by a bet or raise is the first to show the hand. In order to speed up the game, a player holding a probable winner is encouraged to show the hand without delay. If there are one or more side pots ( because someone is all-in ), players are asked to aid in determining the pot winner by not showing their cards until a pot they are in is being settled.

Bookmark it, it's very handy.

None of the above is standard for casinos.

Standard is the last aggressor shows first if there was a bet on the river. If no bet on river shows starting with small blind.

If someone folds without showing when it is their turn, no prob. If someone IN THE HAND wants to see their cards they are turned up LIVE. If someone without cards wants to see them they are killed first then shown.

I don't claim these are the absolute best possible rules, just the most common.

IMO the last aggressor should always have to show first, regardless of river action. Also if you did not call the river you should not be allowed to ask to see someone's cards. If someone who is in the hand on the river wants to see a hand it should be turned up live.

It should only be live if the 'winner' asks to see the hand.

PRESUMED winner. I should further modify to include anyone with cards left that has not turned them up yet (I.e. Possible winners). That could open a nice can of worms and it would be just desserts for jerkoffs who want to see hands that have been tossed in face down.
