I really didn't consider the Q a scare card, but I thought the A would allow me one more shot to get him off whatever he was hangin around w/. (I wasn't planning a river barrel until the A came)

lol, what exact range are you giving him. I'm really confused. like ... do you think he c/r's 99 on that board and then plays it this way or what ?

his range is midpairs, 7's, boat, a 4, a draw, and air

essentially, you have terrible reverse implied odds here.

I'm pretty sure pete doesn't c/r a midpair on that flop, at least I haven't seen him do it. and the rest ... why do you want to bluff against that range. I think that was more my point. Also, if he had a draw like Axcc that played like this, he's probably not folding river.

I had him on 55-JJ (obv. 77 would be a disaster). I don't see why I can't represent the overpair here. He knows I'm not 3betting flop w/ a big pair and when he check it seemed like the obvious line.

On river, he thought for awhile and said "you hit your hand huh?" and folded. He said he had JJ.

I agree turn bluff is iffy, but river was screaming for me to bet.
