Default Discover cards

Right now I have two credit cards, a Visa and an American Express. Plus I also have a Macy's charge card. I keep getting offers for a platinum discover card. Is there any reason to get a Discover card? I never hear of people using Discover any more, especially since Costco now does AmEx. Anyone have one and use it a lot for a specific reason?

It sounds like you have plenty of cards. No reason to add another. Nothing special about discover.

i've probably lost 30+ minutes of my life witnessing this exchange:

"do you take discover?"

no

"oh, well..." [rummages through wallet/purse]

hmm, I've had a Discover card since about 2001 and use it almost exclusively. I think I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've tried to use it and couldn't.

I have a Citibank Mastercard as my primary CC, and I recently opened a Discover Platinum card to take advantage of 0% APR balance transfer. I was pleased to find out that they have quarterly periods where you receive 5%+ cash back from various retailers. During the holiday season, they had 5% cash back from Amazon, which is a sweet, sweet deal. Right now they're offering 5% for some travel-related businesses.

I can't remember the comedian, but a joke went something like: "The only thing I discovered, was that nobody takes the Discover card".
