Fold JJ Preflop?
I have never seen BB raise, I have seen him limp AK. CO is 18/6 over 400+ hands. This is an acceptable time to fold?

Re: Fold JJ Preflop?
I figured BB had to have AA-QQ since it was the first time I had seen him raise and he had showed down a limped AK before, was that assumption wrong?

Re: Fold JJ Preflop?
CO is full of sht anyway but the main thing here is that there will be 13.5 bets in the pot going to the flop. you have to put 2 in there. you're getting almost 6:1.
micros needs a newsflash. pocket pairs make sets. sets win lots against overpairs. this is a call with 22 if you misclick raised the first time. |

Call this flop, but tread carefully if the flop is all undercards. I'm not sure how often we'll be good with just an overpair here. |

Re: Fold JJ Preflop?
I am feeling so good after reading these threads. You see, I've been feeling like I have been playing a little weak tight since I moved up to 1/2. This makes me realize I am nowhere near weak tight.
CALL ALREADY!!!!!!!!! Don't mean to be sarcastic, but even if you know he has AA you need to call here and see what happens. if an A or K hits thats life. If unders fall, tread carefully. If we hit our set JACKPOT. |

Re: Fold JJ Preflop?
[ QUOTE ]
Basically the only time you should fold JJ preflop is for four bets cold. [/ QUOTE ] Miller/Sklansky say you should fold JJ against a raise and reraise in front of you, and I tend to agree if you respect the raisers and there aren't cold callers along for the ride. Here's the quote from HEPFAP, page 25. [ QUOTE ] If you hold JJ and the pot has been raised and reraised before the action gets to you, you should fold. This is correct even when you are in middle or late position [/ QUOTE ] Miller says something similar in SSHE. The risk of being up against a bigger pocket pair or big cards that hit the flop and leave you behind is, in their eyes, too much to show a consistent profit with JJ in this situation. Naturally, there are times to play JJ against a PF raiser and reraiser--maniacs, enough cold callers to try for the set, whatever--but it's normally a fold. The OP's hand, of course, is an easy call--you've already put in two bets. |
