Default Introduce me to Alternative/Indie

Hi first OOT post

On a quest to fill up my 80GB ipod and to expand my musical horizons I decided to try to discover some other music genres other than what I already load it up with: trance techno & rap. I've added a few more groups (Postal Service, Snow Patrol) but I'm looking to add some new stuff, nothing too main stream pls -

all suggestions welcome,

-ob

Stereophonics, The Shins, Sparta, Alkaline Trio, Pete Yorn, The Hives, Queens of the Stone Age, the Shins, On Second Thought, Tegan & Sarah, The Hot IQ's, The Vines, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly, The Fray.

a couple of these are more punk than alternative, and a couple are somewhat mainstream.

I think Spoon might be the best introduction.
