how badly am i sick? u reckon its food poisoning?

i ate chicken stir-fry last night, at around 8pm.
along with my friend who ate the same,
and then i was up un til about 4am without eating anything but about 6 cookies.

anyways, generally, when i wake up next morning after not eating anything before sleeping my stomach hurts,
today, it's worse

i woke up at around 11am and vomited.
but my vomit didn't have much "content" and it was mostly fluid.
i've been vomiting throughout the day (it's 8pm right now) i think i vomited like 5~6 times,
and i also had to go to the toilet due to diarrhoea several times (like 6 as well).

thing is, i'm not sure if its food poisoning, because:
1. my friend ate the same but he isn't sick at all
2. all my vomits are fluidy and there's no "hard stuff" coming out,
it's funny how many times u can vomite even though ur stomach is totally empty.... i've not eaten anything the whole day and i still feel sick.

what should i do? is it serious?
none of my friends seems to give a damn so i'm kinda like suffering pretty badly alone.
i can't sleep either, because i tried sleeping but only ended up waking up to puke again (tried sleeping between 3~5pm). urgh....

How about you go see a real doctor, instead of trying to find one on a message board......

If you didn't cook the chicken well, it could be salmonella. I would just drink lots of liquids and wait it out, and if it's still bad after 2-3 days go see a doctor.

Its very possible that you ate something earlier that caused food poisoning, it can take a while to kick in.

Probably does not matter if it is food poisoning vs stomach flu--both are essentially treated the same way.(exception E.Coli which occurs after eating undercooked ground beef, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts,undercooked roast beef, and unpasteurized milk apple juice/cider.)

Not much to do for it, once you can go a period of time without vomiting or dry heaving-an hour or so, take a small amount of a clear fluid-water or dilute Gatorade...if it stays down for 5-10 minutes or so take a little more. If you start vomiting, stop and wait it out some more. Slowly progress with clear fluids over the next 18-24 hours, then restart bland solid food.

Cramping is typical-if it is coming and going I would not be too concerned. If the pain is constant or increasing you might want to get seen.
If you have blood in your vomit or stools, be seen.
If you are vomiting for more than 48 hours, be seen. Diarrhea can last a bit longer so I would not be too concerned about that(unless bloody)

If you do have food poisoning it sounds like a pretty mild case.

If you ate at a restaurant, call the management and tell them that you got food poisoning from their food (have your friend do the same).
They might comp you a meal. When you use your 'gift certificate" make sure you order something deep fried.

Same, but even worse by far. I guess there are different types of food poisoning though.
