Default river sexy too fancy?

Some dumb things happen, preflop and I check 85 in the BB it's like 5 of us to the flop.

955 with two clubs I lead out because I like money and everyone else hates it.

HU with a retard
turn's a J and I CR and he calls

river's a 5 and I check

wicked gangster or hella dumb?

I try to CR quads on the river when it goes down like that a lot and it seems to be unsucessful(not just in this game)

I don't like it much. Your play is weird. I would just check behind and get a showdown. You are telling him you are suddenly afraid because of that 3rd 5, but what can you have that justifies that (after you turn C/R I mean)? A bluff on the flushdraw? Why would he bet into you if he suspects you'll fold anyhow. Ok, as a bluff perhaps. You might induce a bluff by checking. But the C/R he would surely fold to then, right? I*'d rather have him raise a jack so you can 3 bet.

Yeah, I think betting the flop is good play.

I don't think I like the turn check-raise. I prefer bet-raise. I think some of the time he will check through, and I think the check-raise will lose you some action sometimes both in this street, and the next.

Yeah, I don't like the river check. I don't think he wants to get fooled again on the next street. I think he will very often just take a free SD with a lot of hands he would have called. Also, sometimes he will actually raise the river bet (with a jack, for example now that kickers don't play), allowing you to reraise.

Last night in a huge pot (I think it was capped preflop 7 ways), the SB 3bets the flop, checkraises the turn and then with only 3 people on the river folds his hand instead of simply checking. I'm totally confused, I have no idea what is going on, and so I do what I always do when I'm confused (as do lots of others) and I check as does the remaining opponent.

Moral of story: when people are confused and have no idea what the hell is going on, they simply check and turn over their cards. Don't let them do that.

Bet the river. A 9 will almost always check behind but will call a bet more than half the time.

I think you're right.

Against two or more people I bet this turn but HU I go for a CR because a lot of people will bet ANYTHING here.

I think I should bet the river, [censored] even if he missed diamonds there's a good chance he'll call anyways with A high.

meh, I suck.

I bet the river, not necessarily, because I am going to get value, but some moron, (read someone like me) is going to think that your betting so far isn't a five, and is going to raise his overpair one more time.

So, if you bet the river, you get one bet most of the time, and three bets some of the time.

If you check, you get one bet some of the time, and two bets some of the time.

I think the first case adds up to more bets in the long run.

With an overpair I'd cap the river. His play looks so much like a jack, and I can't believe him not raising from the BB with JJ-AA. Ok, maybe 99 or a 5...

Don't you mean 0 bets and 2 bets for the second case
