Default Study time vs Playing time

When I first started playing poker several years ago, I read a ton of books, participated in the strategy forums, analyzed my hands, watched cardrunner vids.

These days all I want to do is play. I've got like 6 new books just sitting here waiting to be read, I watch maybe 1 CR vid a week, and never get around to posting hands and stuff.

I really need to be studying more too... but can't seem to motivate myself. I started a new job which is occupying more of my time. And I've recently started enjoying PLO which is great fun, quite addictive.

So any suggestions on fighting thru all these distractions and forcing myself to study more? I know my game would certainly improve if I did.

Thx.. BB

Cash out everything in your poker accounts so you can't play.

It's what I've just done as I know I need to read more, but can't stop myself from playing >_<

Besides, I guess I could do with a break

No thats not gona happen.. I've only deposited once in my life and have never had to do it again, being a lifetime winner and all.

I know the only answer to this is discipline and motivation to get the job done. Put the notebook down, pick up a poker book.. Fortunately buncha good books to read..

When I played seriously online, I always tried to force myself to spend 1/4 of my poker time studying in one way or another - PT review and/or book work.

Study in an hour or half hour time period where you aren't doing anything else, but don't have enough time to play. If you have a lunch hour, for example. Or during breakfast as you have coffee before you leave the house. Or if you have an hour after work before some other activity (or between classes if you're in school).

There is probably some part of every day where you have 30 minutes where it's just not long enough to log in an play a session. Use that time.

Ive kinda worked out you can do both; I can multitable 4 tourneys at once (unless short handed, or getting close to the $) if i concentrate hard, or three easily.

So, just play one tourney, or two and read a book at the same time.
