6 handed, SB vs BB, i hold PP in SB, how often BB has PP too?
So, it's 6handed, everyone is folded to me, i hold a pocket pair in SB.
A)What are the odds (or %) that BB has a pocket pair too? B)What are the odds (or %) that BB has a pocket pair higher than mine, if i hold 66? Thanks |

Re: 6 handed, SB vs BB, i hold PP in SB, how often BB has PP too?
Chances of him having a pocket pair are (48/50)*(3/49) + (2/50)*(1/49).
Thats 48/50ths of the time his first card is not your rank, and when that happens, he pairs it 3/49ths of the time. 2/50ths of the time he gets dealt your rank and when that happens, 1/49th of the time he pairs it. For all intents and purposes, this number is 1/17 (it's actually just a shade higher...intuitively this makes sense, as your odds of having a pocket pair increase if you remove entire ranks from the deck). Odds of him having 77 or better: (32/50)*(3/49) There are 32 cards left out of 50 that are 7 or higher. Once he gets one, he needs to pair it, which happens 3/49ths of the time. |

What if I am on the Button. What are my chances of one of the Blinds having a pocket pair higher than my 6s?
Is it: (32/50)*(3/49)+(32/50)*(3/49) ? |
