Default Are other cities like this?

Pittsburgh is Steeler [censored] crazy. Every friday during the season, every single office downtown has 'Black and Gold Day'.
i swear half the suits downtown are wearing something Steeler-related. Jerseys, Tshirts, hats, everything. its pretty wild.

during the playoffs of the SuperBowl win 2 years ago (brag!), the ratio of ppl with vs. ppl w/o steeler gear on was 90-10.

does denver, for example, have 'blue-and-orange day'?

FWIW, any steeler news dominates the local news. Big Ben having a sore thumb will be on before a tsumani that kills 50k.

go steelers!

variance: roethlisbergers wreck crushed the local TV airwaves like a presidential speech.

Steelers have one of the better fan bases in the country and they travel well to opposing stadiums, but yeah there are other cities that have the same deal. Kansas City, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc.

Here's a nice group of Eagles fans at an Eagles-Cowboys game.

yeah. SBXL in Detroit v Seattle was 95% Steeler fans because of Pittsburgh fans willing to travel and the proximity of Detroit to Sea/Pit. 2-5-06 was an awesome day.

This isn't precisely accurate. I think most Steeler fans at away games are people who used to live in Pittsburgh (or whose parents did) and moved. So it's not so much traveling well but just being everywhere.

The state of Texas has a "Go Texan" day once a year which I think is weird, being an "outsider".

Many people at school will dress up "Texan", meaning like a Cowboy (uggg, bad stereotype). In the workplace, it is also allowed at most places, but also they will usually allow Texans jersey or Astros stuff. Nobody really rocks Rocket gear around town for some reason.

Every city pushes its sports teams to generate revenue. Local news reporters will even stake out a tree where a cat got stuck.

But nothing will beat the sheer rabid, balls-to-the-wall, psychotic fans at the Vet in Philly. That stadium was complete with jail, courtroom, and glory holes. Some poor girl was actually found dead in mens room after a game with her stomach full of semen...

To be fair, this could happen anywhere.

There's also a crapload of random people from all over who grew up in the 70's & picked either the Steelers or Cowboys cause that was the cool thing to do.
