Correct re-steal ?
PS 45 man tourney, 17 remain. I've just begun to steal blinds shoving two times uncalled. I folded the last orbit.
Villain has begun stealing from the CO with 3xBB bets uncalled, this is his 3rd attempt. From other hands he played I see he's loosening his game. BB is playing tight abc poker. The table is somewhat tight in general. I think this was a good spot for a re-steal, what do you think ? (results in white). Thank you. Re: Correct re-steal ?
It's no secret that I suck at poker, so more in the interest of fostering discussion than of giving advice...
To me, the problem here is that just because villain is widening his range, there's nothing that says he can't have a good hand. And your A6s really doesn't do that well against even a pretty broad range: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 53.214% 47.61% 05.61% 1027101172 120996000.00 { 22+, A2s+, K7s+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, 87s, 76s, 65s, A2o+, KTo+, QJo } Hand 1: 46.786% 41.18% 05.61% 888409868 120996000.00 { A6s } So it seems to come down to fold equity. Do you have any evidence that villain might fold to your shove? If not, I would either wait for a better hand or observe the table a bit longer to find good opportunities where people seem to be stealing light and folding to resteals. |

Re: Correct re-steal ?
Well, villain was stealing with 3xBB bets always from the CO and never shoving. I thought a push with good FE was +EV but, as cheburaska said, villain hand could be legitimate and my A6s was not so good, I'm still not sure how to rate my move.

Re: Correct re-steal ?
for a good resteal you need some reads:
1.) villain has a wide opening-range 2.) villain has a narrow calling-range if you have these two conditions your cards don't matter. most resteals the do not work are because people figure out villains who steal a lot (have a wide opening range) - which is quite easy, as you just have to look at your tracking/hud software, but aren't sure that these villains are able to lay a hand down (have a narrow calling range). you have to be observant - best is you see this villain laying down a hand to a 3-bet. if i see this i make a note. if i see this again i make another note and than i start restealing against this villain. |

If you're going to resteal here, i think that you have to make it 1800. 3-betting 1/2 of your stack look much more scary than overbet-shoving. I think that your read on CO is prob correct, but i fold this from SB anyway. If you're going to make a move here, i'd rather have a hand like JTs. |

Re: Correct re-steal ?
i don't bother stealing or restealing at this level, and i don't do it with a hand like A6s.
