Default Germany / UK where to stay?

I'm thinking about leaving to Germany or UK but I don't really know where I should stay. What can you recommend for a little trip like 3-7 days? Probably something cheap is good I might get something like 3-5 friends to go with me.
Thanks!

Berlin is great. I think you can find plenty of ok-priced hotels there. In Germany you really have to pick your city as many are incredibly ugly and dull, so don't just go somewhere .

I lived in southern Germany for about 8 months. I only visited Berlin, I didn't live there.

That said, I much prefer southern Germany to northern. The biggest reason is the hardest to objectively define/quantify. Blame it on Berlin's incredibly sprawling size, blame it on northern G's style of speech, but I couldn't wait to get back to Bavaria.

OK, all that being said, where you visit in Germany is hihgly dependent on what you want out of your trip. If you're looking to club and sleep with hookers, the answer is a lot different than if you're looking to ski and sample northern Italy.

Yeah, I live in Bayern now. It is very nice to visit if you like great people, beautiful cities, good food etc.. It is more "cultural" sort of than the north. It is a matter of taste, Berlin is more a sure bet (since it is big and have everything) and is nice and fun. The south is more of a "either you think it is great (as I do) or you don't like it" kind of place.

Berlin has lots of history, museums, and nightlife. I dont' think any other German city compares, ie. Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart. Munich is very nice, but Berlin has way more of everything except for beer gardens.

[/ QUOTE ] This definitely. We are probably going to be drunk the whole time so I think that Berlin will do just fine. Ty guys.
