Is this game really all about the big pots?
When you set out to play a session do you plan to make money by winning a few big pots, or by taking down a bunch of small ones?
From my limited experience it seems like the big pots come around very rarely and that most of my winning sessions are results of me taking down the blinds a lot and maybe busting a really short stack or two. How do you generally expect your profits to roll in when you decide to sit down for a few hours or so? |

Re: Is this game really all about the big pots?
Full Ring seems to be 9 people waiting around to flop a set and hope an over pair pays them off....
I am surprised at how much different it is than 6max |

So many people are trying to flop sets because terrible players make it so profitable. I don't get the difference between getting someone heads up with 6 or 9 people at the table. Are people willing to play more hands in 6max? BTW your avatar rocks. |

At this level, small pots have a drop close to 25%. Large pots tend to have a drop of 1-2% or less. Guess what, I sit back wait for the big hand / overpair and let the fish pay the insane drop. At a 33-40BB max buy in, its not hard to get all in at all and almost always profit 2-4 buyins per day unless I loose my 60-40+ races, then I tend to just break even. |

Re: Is this game really all about the big pots?
I'm running at about 16/5.5/3 at NL$10. Although this looks quite tight passive, I'm actually stealing a lot of small pots preflop or on the flop. Basically what I'm trying to do is to break even and keep up with the blinds. If I can create a looser table image than the reality then this is a bonus.
The real profit comes from making big hands and winning large pots. Its all about patience and not losing too much with 1 pair hands. At the stakes I play at I don't have to do much for the fish to pay off my big hands. |
