Basic Strategy: Help me understand pot control
I'm posting to ask you guys about pot control, i've not got it all togather with pot control and i'm sure some of you might be able to clarify things.
I've read this post (excuse obscene link length): http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...rue#Post7947101 'Small pots for small hands; big pots for big hands' is something I can understand, in addition to keeping the pot small when your hand has showdown value but can't stand much heat. However i'm also aware that when you've got a TPTK hand you should be pricing out draws, so in some situations i'd be unsure of the correct play. For example... BotOnTilt posted a hand where he had AQ on a Q77 flop with two hearts. He chose to raise a donkbet here, I'm assuming to charge a draw. But isn't it also the case here that his hand can't stand much heat, so would pot control apply here too? Another example. You're holding KK and you're on the button. You've raised it up PF and got a single caller from the blinds. The flop is coordinated, say J987 with two hearts. You want to price out a flush draw I'm assuming but doesn't pot control (keeping the pot small) apply too? Can you achieve both objectives or do you basically have to choose between them? If anybody can clue me up then i'd be very grateful =) |
