Default How much to study

I know this has been addressed but the search function sucks. How many hours do you study per credit hour? I remember reading a general answer somewhere but im an electrical engineer taking
FOUNDATIONS OF ENGR I - 2.0
ENGINEERING MATH I - 4.0
Physics MECHANICS - 4.0
STATE & LOCAL GOVT - 3.0

I kind of feel overwhelmed by some of my classes and the amount of studying needed.

Entirely depends from college to college. Your teachers will know the answer - it's probably buried somewhere in your course handbook.

The number I've always heard was 3 study/homework hours per 1 credit hour.

However, this has always been way too high for me. I do about 30/45 mins outside of class every week for each credit hour. I get good grades.

This question is so unbelievably stupid it's hard to comprehend. Study until you feel comfortable with all the material if you have time. If not, prioritize based on how many credit hours the class is worth and how much the particular test/paper is worth in that class.

Since middle school, whenever I got to the next level of education, I was always told I would have to study like 5 hours or night or something ridiculous. It was never true.

Depends on the major and the level of black-and-white coursework requirements.

For upper-level hard sciences or very work-intensive classes, you might be looking at 2:1 (work:class ratio).

For the majority of class, a small fraction of this should work. I probably did about an overall 1:3 ratio myself and did fine.

If you're unintelligent, then it will take a lot more. Intelligence is the biggest determinant, far and away.

T50,

Do you not mean more like naturally gifted? How many people have been labeled as smart but lazy? For myself, I'm by no means an idiot but I've realized I'm going to need to put in a ton of work just to get a 3.5
